Last week Tinwald School were lucky enough to get a tour through the new Countdown store before it opened. We also got to ice and eat our own cupcakes! Check out some photos below. Well done to Lorraine and Emori who were on the radio this morning helping Hoops host his show. Check the Hoops Facebook page to see a video of them unwrapping the press!
Arrowsmith have been spending a lot of time at the pool over the last two weeks. We have been learning a lot and improving our swimming skills. Check out some photos below! Today we had a school mufti day to fundraise money for the South Island Ronald McDonald House. Families can stay at the house completely free of charge while their children are hospitalised so they can concentrate on what matters most – helping them to heal.
Each class chose a dress up theme, Manuka chose OLD FOLKS. Check out some photos below. On Tuesday Taylor and Arrowsmith went on a trip to town. We split into two groups and each group had a chance to visit the public library and the museum. We all met up for lunch and a play at the domain.
At the library a librarian read us a story, we learned about the dewy decimal system and we had the opportunity to get some books out. At the museum we learned about different types of rocks and found out about landforms in Mid-Canterbury and how they got there. Thank you to all the parents who helped out for the day - we had a lot of fun! We have been learning about volume and capacity in Manuka this week.
The space within a container is called capacity. The space the liquid inside the container takes up is called volume. Here are a few photos of us doing some hands on measuring... On Monday the team from New Zealand Playhouse came to Tinwald School and performed Puss in Boots - The Pet Detective.
We thought it was extremely entertaining - these were some of our favourite parts: the slow motion running and the Justin Baby Bear-ber song. |
